DEATH & CO TEAM PLANS LUXURY HOTEL WITH A KILLER LOBBY BAR IN SAVANNAH
Hospitality group Midnight Auteur is a partnership between the team behind famed NYC bar Death & Co. and the Ramble Hotel in Denver. After a successful venture in Colorado, the group is headed south to open Municipal Grand in Savannah at 132 East Broughton Street.
Located in the former First Federal Savings and Loan Association building, built in the 1960s, the luxury hotel will revitalize the space with much of the original midcentury modern charm. Municipal Grand will offer 44 rooms, a lobby bar and restaurant, a rooftop pool, and a subterranean bar. Death & Co. will obviously be in charge of the cocktails, and the food menu will draw inspiration from traditional and modern American steakhouses.
The Sun Club, the rooftop pool and lounge, will offer summer-y cocktails, group libations, and snacks, as well as panoramic views of the city. The group has not yet announced plans for the underground bar.
David Kaplan, a partner at Midnight Auteur, said, “We were very lucky to find this property in Savannah, which will enable us to bring our vision to life in one of our favorite cities in the world. While it may be a lofty ambition, we hope to create a space that can serve as Savannah’s living room.”
Municipal Grand is slated to open in early 2025.
